On Tuesday, May 6, Pick Ellijay hosted the inaugural Trailblazer Summit- the first annual meeting celebrating a year of growth, innovation, and dedication in Gilmer County’s tourism industry. This special event highlighted the achievements of the hospitality community and honored outstanding individuals who are shaping the future of tourism in our region. Four awards were presented: the Rising Star Award, Spirit of the Community Award, Frontline Service Award, and the Creative Expression Award.
The Frontline Service Award honors someone who represents the heart of hospitality—an individual whose energy, consistency, and passion create unforgettable guest experiences every day. These are the people who make visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive—and who go above and beyond behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly.
The first-ever Frontline Service Award was presented to someone who fits that description perfectly. Rachel McConaughey, Tasting Room Manager at Roo Mountain Vineyards, is often the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the one still smiling after a long day of serving others.
In just over a year, Rachel rose from server to manager—not just because of her hard work, but because of her dedication to her team and her guests. She leads by example, takes on the unglamorous jobs when they need doing, and brings a level of care and consistency that makes her team stronger and her workplace better.
Rachel has a gift for making people feel like VIPs and a drive to continually grow. She’s become a key part of the Roo Mountain team—and a shining example of what frontline service is all about.
